Through the Victory Over Hunger Garden Bed Initiative, gardeners are growing a variety of vegetables in raised garden beds. Seven of these have been painted for auction by local artists, with an additional 20 raised beds in use as well. The beds and associated structures will ultimately be given to area food pantries and put to use in increasing healthy food availability.

Quoted in the Daily Herald, Mr. Tenner described the project as being open to community gardeners of all skill levels who want to participate in a fun and meaningful activity. A Chicago artist who created a bed portraying people growing their own food described her message as one of joy in “achieving small victories.”
